Ever get one of those questions that makes you hesitate? For me, it’s this one: Why do you do what you do?
Not because I don’t love what I’ve built—I do, fiercely. But because the road to get here wasn’t exactly smooth. Still, I share this in case someone out there needs a reminder that starting over isn’t always a bad thing. Sometimes, it’s the best thing.
So, here it is—why I do what I do.
Turning a Hard Reset Into Something Amazing
This shop started out of necessity. Life had flipped the table on me— back in 2008 I lost my home, my job, and everything I thought was stable. My life was violently shaken up both figuratively and literally. Now a single mom, facing all of this while dealing with chronic illness, I needed a way to support my daughter and keep moving forward.
What started as a survival move turned into something more. It became a lesson for my daughter—proof that with determination (and maybe a little stubbornness), you can build something incredible. I get to show her that creating your own path isn’t just possible—it’s powerful.
A Business with Heart (And Sass)
From the start, I knew my business wouldn’t be just about selling products. I wanted it to reflect what I care about:
-
Quality craftsmanship that doesn’t break the bank – because everyone deserves something amazing without the ridiculous markup.
-
Keeping it eco-friendly – I reuse what I can, recycle the rest, and offset emissions to keep my footprint as small as possible.
- Giving back – A portion of what I make helps women, children, and animals displaced by violence. Whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or sending my creations to those in need, every purchase plays a part.
Pretty cool, right? Just by shopping with me, you’re part of something bigger.
Creating More Than Just Products
I’ve been a creator my whole life—watching materials come to life in my hands is magic. But what I love most about this business isn’t just making things. It’s the smiles. The joy. The moment someone opens a package and it brings a little laughter or happiness to their day.
My daughter once said, “Do you notice we leave a trail of smiles everywhere we go?” And honestly? I do. I love showing her that’s what you leave in your path—joy, kindness, and a little fun.
Because this world needs more of that. And if I can build a business that makes a difference and lets me be there for her homeschooling? Then yeah, I’d say I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
